Young Mother Dies by Mistake in Attack on Husband in Recife
A 19-year-old mother was killed by a gunshot allegedly intended for her husband as they were returning home on a motorcycle. The attacker surrendered to police
Sarah Beatriz Porfírio da Silva, a young mother of just 19 years old, tragically died early Sunday morning (6) after being shot, according to her family, when they were ambushed by armed men in a car on Avenida Beberibe, one of Recife's busiest streets.
A blue vehicle approached them and, without saying a word, they began shooting. The bullet hit Sarah, who died at the scene. Her husband, Samuel Barbosa de Moura, 22, managed to escape unharmed.
“He was the target,” declared Patrícia Porfírio, the victim's mother, through tears. “My daughter was full of life and adored her son. A great emptiness has invaded me.”
But when asked about a possible motive for the armed attack or her son-in-law's possible conflicts, she remained silent.

Sarah leaves behind a one-year-old baby. She had lived with Samuel for three years and worked as an eyelash designer. She had no criminal record and was well-liked by her Instagram followers, where she had more than 12,500.
Her husband, however, does have a history of aggravated theft and receiving stolen goods, according to records from the Pernambuco Court of Justice.
The alleged shooter, a 19-year-old man, voluntarily surrendered to police on Monday (7) at the headquarters of the Homicide and Personal Protection Department (DHPP) in Cordeiro. He was arrested in flagrante delicto, and the Civil Police are now investigating the case as completed homicide and attempted homicide.
Sarah's body was taken to the Institute of Forensic Medicine (IML) in Santo Amaro and buried that same Monday in the cemetery in the same neighborhood, in downtown Recife.
