Itaquaquecetuba, Brazil, June 23, 2024 - A young music teacher at the Itaquá municipal school, Isabelle Albuquerque, 23, died after being hit by a freight train while crossing an unmarked level crossing.
The tragic incident took place last Thursday afternoon and was captured by a nearby security camera.
Isabelle was quickly rescued by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) and transferred to the Santa Marcelina Hospital in Itaquaquecetuba. Unfortunately, she died shortly after her arrival due to cardiac arrest caused by the strong impact.
Security video shows several pedestrians crossing the level crossing before the incident. Isabelle, who was using her cell phone as she crossed, was hit by the train, which stopped immediately after impact. Some pedestrians tried to help the victim at the scene of the accident.
The Itaquaquecetuba City Council issued a statement in which it deeply regrets the event and expresses its solidarity with Isabelle's family.
In addition, he pointed out that the company MRS Logistics is responsible for signaling the crossing and that the place lacks adequate supervision.
