Man Murders Wife and Daughter, Records Video Confession, and Takes His Own Life
The attacker recorded a video confessing details of the crime and took his own life. He had a history of threats and was on parole
A tragedy shocked Nicaragua on Sunday, June 22, 2025, when Bayardo Jesús Morales Osorio, 48, murdered his ex-partner, Yulisa Montoya Chavarría, 46, and her 13-year-old daughter in the Villa Reconciliación Sur neighborhood of Managua. After committing the crimes, the man recorded a shocking video confessing to the crime and then took his own life by hanging.
The crime occurred in the early hours of the morning in a home located in District Six of the capital. Morales suffocated the victims while they slept, recorded a confession lasting several minutes, and finally hanged himself from a rope tied to the ceiling. His body was found still with the phone nearby, from which he allegedly recorded the audiovisual evidence.
The video confession: a chilling testimony
In the video, Morales appears with a rope tied around his neck. He focuses on the lifeless bodies on the bed and coldly describes what happened:
“At five in the morning, I took Yulisa's life. She had finished me off and threatened to sue me if I didn't leave,” he says, while focusing on his ex-partner.
He then recounts that he spoke with his daughter for almost an hour before murdering her:
“She was crying with me… and I told her I couldn't leave her suffering in this world. I love her, I decided to take my daughter and my wife; that's why they're leaving with me,” he says, pointing the camera at both victims.
Visibly upset, Morales tries to justify his actions and launches strong accusations against a supposed lover of his wife:
“I've always given everything to my daughter, to my wife too. They haven't lacked for anything. They've lacked for nothing. And that idiot came to interfere in our lives. That idiot, David Isaac Marenco Morales. That criminal, murderer… he was in prison, I don't know if it was 10 years, 15 years… for murder, for thief, for drug addict, for drunk, for vicious… for using my wife. The idiot. He's going to regret it, the damn idiot, for having messed with my wife.”
“She's going to suffer, idiot. You shouldn't have messed with my wife. My wife was mine, mine alone. I've been begging my wife to be with me for five months.”
For several minutes, he hurls insults, contradicts himself, and tries to justify his daughter's murder:
“My daughter isn't to blame… but I can't leave her suffering in this world. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry, my daughter. I'm so sorry, love. I didn't mean to do this, I didn't mean to do this… but I couldn't take it anymore.”
The man blames his wife's alleged relationship with another man for driving him to a state of despair:
“And I treated her well, and she humiliated me. Every day she went to that man… every day to spend her money with that criminal. And at night she was with me. Day with him and night with me. No one is to blame for this, but her and me.”
Finally, he says goodbye:
“My whole family forgives me. May Yulisa's family forgive me, her children… but I'm taking my wife with me. And my daughter… I'm not going to leave my daughter with that criminal. I'm never going to give my wife to him. How can I regret it? I regret it with all my heart.”
He had a record for threats and was on probation.
Bayardo Morales had been reported for threats against Yulisa Montoya. He was briefly imprisoned in the “La Modelo” prison in Tipitapa and was released on February 3rd under probation, which was to be served until September 31, 2025. The measure was ordered by the Fourth Specialized Judge on Violence, Harold Leal.
Neighbors claim that, although she didn't want to resume the relationship, he insisted on visiting her and pressuring her. A resident of the neighborhood mentioned that everything happened near a birthday celebration, which the man allegedly took advantage of to enter the home.
The three bodies were found by relatives who arrived at the home after receiving no response on the phone. Yulisa had been a shopkeeper for over 15 years, and her daughter was in her third year of high school. Bayardo worked unloading trucks in the capital's markets.
