She had reported her partner for violence: days later he held her captive and killed her
Noelia Rivero, 30, was murdered in Temperley after calling 911 to report that her partner was holding her captive
Noelia Carolina Rivero, a 30-year-old woman, was murdered inside a house in Temperley, in the province of Buenos Aires, after making desperate calls to 911 to report that her partner was holding her captive and threatening to kill her.
The incident occurred on Saturday at a house on Lavalle Street, where Tomás Adrián Núñez was holding the victim captive. According to the investigation, hours before the crime, the man himself called emergency services and said, “I have my partner kidnapped and I’m going to kill her,” even providing the address of the house.
When the first police officers arrived at the scene, Núñez refused to open the door and insisted that everything was under control. From inside, Noelia confirmed that she was there, although she managed to say in a low voice that she couldn’t leave because her partner wouldn’t allow it.
While the officers tried to negotiate for the woman’s release, the situation became increasingly critical. In the middle of the operation, Noelia managed to contact 911 and request an ambulance, stating that her partner wanted to kill her.
With authorization from the prosecutor’s office and the help of family members who provided a copy of the key, the officers attempted to enter the house. However, Núñez had placed obstacles to hinder access.
According to investigators, when the aggressor realized that the victim had called for help, he attacked her inside a room. Police heard banging and screams before gaining entry.
Upon entering, they found a devastating scene. Noelia had multiple stab wounds to her chest and neck, injuries that ultimately caused her death. At the same location, they found Núñez with cuts on his arms and neck, apparently self-inflicted.
The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a medical center, where he remains hospitalized while the investigation continues. The court is awaiting his release so he can be formally charged with aggravated homicide due to the relationship between the victim and perpetrator and the context of gender-based violence.
Authorities also confirmed that Núñez had a history of violence against a former partner, who had previously filed a complaint against him for assault.
A History of Jealousy and Control
According to sources connected to the case, the relationship between the two began in late 2025, and they had been living together for only two months. Investigators maintain that the man exhibited obsessive and controlling behavior.
Testimony gathered during the investigation indicates that he habitually made video calls to his partners in the early hours of the morning to check on their whereabouts and demand they show him different parts of the house. If they didn't respond immediately, he accused them of infidelity.
During the forensic examination, investigators also found a 360-degree surveillance camera installed inside the dining room of the house, an item now included in the evidence being analyzed.
Furthermore, it emerged that Núñez suspected Noelia of having a relationship with his own brother, an accusation he allegedly repeated to family members before the crime. Authorities are also investigating whether substance abuse problems may have influenced his behavior.
The autopsy and supplementary forensic examinations aim to accurately reconstruct Noelia Rivero's final hours, whose pleas for help were recorded in emergency calls made shortly before her death.
