Ecuador: Father attacks his son for academic problems
Local authorities investigate the case, while outrage grows on social networks
In the Guasmo sector, south of Guayaquil, Ecuador, an unfortunate episode has generated outrage on social networks. Gabriel Mera, known as Darel, carried out an act of violence against his own son after learning that the young man was left in extra time at school. The video of the attack went viral on social networks.
Since the morning of this Thursday, March 7, a video captured by a security camera of a business has been circulating on various digital platforms, showing the brutal assault suffered by a minor. The aggressor, identified as the young man's father, reacted violently when he learned of his son's academic situation.
The incident took place in a place that apparently functions as an aesthetic center. In the images, the teenager is seen entering the place accompanied by a woman with a baby in her arms and another man. Surprisingly, the young man is hit on the head by his own father upon entering the establishment.
The video records an attack that lasts more than two minutes; an argument can be seen between the aggressor and a woman, presumably his partner. To prevent what is happening inside the premises from being evident from the outside, the woman closes the window.
The video, which has generated outrage on social networks, has identified the aggressor as Gabriel Mera, also known as Darel in Guasmo. It is expected that the Guayaquil authorities will take immediate measures in this case of domestic violence. Some sources suggest that the individual could have connections with a terrorist group, which is being investigated by authorities.
