Donald Trump Safe After Shooting Near His Florida Golf Club

Donald Trump is safe following a shooting near his golf club in Florida. The FBI has labeled the incident as an attempted assassination

Former U.S. President Donald Trump is unharmed after a shooting occurred near his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, this past Sunday afternoon. According to reports from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the Secret Service, and the FBI, a man armed with an AK47 rifle aimed at the golf course where Trump was present. Secret Service agents responded by shooting the suspect, injuring him as he attempted to flee.

The FBI has classified the event as an assassination attempt. Following the incident, a suspect was taken into custody, and the weapon used was found in the bushes near the golf course. In an email statement to his supporters, Trump reassured that he was "safe and sound" and emphasized: "Nothing will stop me. I will never give up!"

At a press conference, authorities confirmed that Trump was "one or two holes" away from where the shooting took place.

Fortunately, he was not harmed. The White House informed President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris about the incident, and both expressed relief that the former president was safe. Harris, who is currently running against Trump in the presidential race, also tweeted: "I'm glad he's safe. There is no place for violence in America."

This event comes two months after another assassination attempt on Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. On that occasion, Trump was injured in the ear when a man armed with an AR-15 rifle fired from a nearby rooftop. During that shooting, one attendee was killed, and the attacker, identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, was shot and killed by a Secret Service sniper. Following that incident, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned two weeks later amid criticism over presidential security.

The Secret Service and FBI continue to investigate both incidents to strengthen protective measures around former President Trump, who remains a prominent figure in U.S. politics.
