Bus driver killed by 14-year-old teenager

Outrage grows online over the murder of a bus driver during an assault, who never resisted


An atrocious event shook the streets of Guayaquil, Ecuador, when a 56-year-old public transport driver lost his life during a violent assault perpetrated by a teenager who was barely 14 years old. The incident occurred on Monday, April 15, around 8:30 p.m., at the intersections of Chambers and 41st streets, in the city suburb.

According to witnesses, the transport unit, belonging to line 45, was approached by three armed individuals. Even though the bus did not have many passengers, the criminals proceeded to strip those present of their belongings, under threats of violence with firearms.

The driver, identified as Milton Rivera, 56, was accompanied by a woman, who followed the assailants' instructions while they looted the passengers. During the struggle, one of the criminals requested an object that the driver had with him, and when trying to give it to him, a confrontation broke out that culminated in two shots.




In an act of excessive cruelty, one of the assailants returned to the bus before leaving and fired two additional shots, fatally hitting the driver, who died at the scene. The woman accompanying him desperately cried for help, while the criminals fled.

The shocking event was recorded on video by the unit's security cameras, where the faces of the criminals involved in the deadly assault are evident.

The authorities carried out rapid action that resulted in the arrest of two suspects, including the 14-year-old adolescent identified as the perpetrator of the homicide. The other detained individual was identified as Erick Espinoza, 24 years old. Both were placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities to face the corresponding charges.
