Intelligence agents from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), in collaboration with authorities from Coahuila and the Navy, managed to capture a criminal gang in the Obrera neighborhood, Cuauhtémoc municipality.
This criminal organization, made up of two men and a woman, was involved in home robbery and drug sales, activities that they had been carrying out both in Mexico City and in other states of the country.
The operation was carried out after an exhaustive investigation and surveillance work that allowed the criminals to be located through the C2 and C5 camera systems.
The three members of the gang, identified as José Edgar, Ariadna Báez and Mario Fernando, were wanted by the Coahuila authorities after having committed a robbery of 1.2 million pesos in a home within a residential complex in Saltillo on September 9. After this crime, the investigation file COA/FG/XX/PGE/2024/AC-14138 was opened and arrest warrants were issued against them.
The capture occurred when the criminals were surprised by the SSC agents while they were circulating on the streets of Simón Bolívar and Juan de Dios, in the Obrera neighborhood. At that time, the members of the gang were selling drugs. Upon noticing the presence of the police, they tried to flee, but were quickly caught and arrested on Eje Central and García Cubas.
After their arrest, the criminals were transferred to the 50th agency of the Attorney General's Office, where they are expected to face charges for both the robberies they committed and their involvement in the sale of illicit substances.
This criminal group had been operating in different areas of the country, specializing in home robbery. The collaboration between the different entities allowed their capture, putting an end to their illegal activities in Mexico City.
