16-year-old teenager dies after being shot in front of a mini-market

The young man was shot dead after an argument. Police are investigating whether there is a connection with another crime involving his brother

Araçatuba (SP). A 16-year-old teenager, identified as Felipe César Macedo Severino, was shot dead on the afternoon of Thursday, December 12, in front of a mini-market in the Águas Claras neighborhood. According to witnesses and police reports, the young man argued with another teenager moments before being shot in the head, shoulders, right arm and abdomen. The attack occurred near the intersection of Palmira Sturari Rocha and José Maurício de Souza streets, around 6:30 p.m.

The Mobile Emergency Service (SAMU) certified Felipe's death at the scene. During the initial inspection, police officers recovered a pair of sneakers abandoned by the attacker, who fled with the help of another man.

Authorities have already identified the main suspect, a teenager who remains at large. The security cameras of the minimarket and other nearby establishments are being analyzed to advance the investigation led by the Homicide Department (DH) of the Specialized Division in Criminal Investigations (DEIC).

Family connections

Felipe was the brother of Nícolas César Macedo Severino, 18 years old, who is currently in preventive detention for another homicide in the same neighborhood that occurred on October 22.

Nícolas is accused of the murder of Luís Felipe Albano Silva, 25 years old, and of wounding his minor son. According to the investigations, Nícolas would have invaded Luís's home looking for another young man. In the attack, he shot at Luis and, when he missed, a piece of shrapnel hit the boy's foot. Luis died days later in the hospital after surgical complications.

The Civil Police have indicated that, so far, there is no direct connection between the two crimes. However, both incidents reflect a worrying increase in cases of armed violence in the Águas Claras residential complex.

In the case of Nícolas, the Prosecutor's Office has filed charges for qualified homicide and attempted homicide with aggravating circumstances. Although he denies the accusations, he will soon be brought to trial before a jury court. Meanwhile, the investigation into Felipe's murder remains active, with the hope of locating and capturing the person responsible for the attack.
