A dog dies in an accident caused by a rock
The canine was as an occupant on the motorcycle together with its owners
In the depressed area of Villanueva, Medellín, a couple who were mobilizing on their motorcycle with their dog suffered an accident that left the pet fatal. According to the authorities, the blunt object that caused the accident was a rock that was apparently left intentionally by a street inhabitant.
The event took place in the tunnel on Calle 58 with Carrera 53, which connects Avenida Oriental with the Horacio Toro bridge and Avenida Ferrocarril. The motorcycle failed to avoid the object and fell to the ground, hitting the cement plates. The couple's dog, who was traveling with them and brought croquettes to feed him, hit his head hard and lost his life.
The couple was injured and was treated by personnel from the Medellín Health Secretariat. The passenger of the motorcycle suffered some fractures and both were transferred to the El Rosario Clinic, Villahermosa headquarters. A street inhabitant who was in the area was left with the mortal remains of the canine.
The agents of the Medellín Mobility Secretariat drew up the sketch of the accident and, with the support of the Prosecutor's Office, began investigations to establish who was responsible for leaving the rock in the middle of the tunnel. The authorities took the opportunity to reiterate the call to motorcycle owners to avoid transporting pets in this type of vehicle to avoid risks of accidents for both them and the other occupants.
