Hollywood actor Steve Buscemi was brutally attacked on the streets of New York, suffering injuries after being punched in the face while walking through the city.

The New York City Police Department (NYPD) confirmed that they are investigating the incident, which took place this Wednesday, May 8, in downtown Manhattan. This fact adds to a series of random attacks that have recently occurred in the city.

Buscemi's publicist issued a statement to local media, confirming the event and assuring that the actor is receiving treatment for his injuries. Despite being fine, the statement expressed sadness that this happened to Buscemi while he was walking the streets of New York.




The attack occurred in the Third Avenue area, and according to the NYPD, the attacker is described as a dark-skinned man, wearing a baseball-style cap, blue t-shirt, black pants, white sneakers, and was carrying a backpack.

Emergency medical services transported Buscemi to a nearby hospital, where he is being treated for bruising, swelling and bleeding in his left eye.

So far, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident, and police continue to investigate. The public's help has been requested to identify the attacker.
