A case of bullying between teenagers has triggered a police investigation in Brumadinho, Minas Gerais, after a video of the confrontation went viral on social networks. The event took place on October 23 in front of a square in the Progreso neighborhood, when two teenagers, aged 13 and 14, began to argue and the situation became violent.
In the images circulating on networks, it can be seen how the victim chases a classmate and says some offensive words to him, both young people argue while other teenagers shout in the background. Moments later, the fight escalates and the victim, a 14-year-old boy, falls to the ground after receiving a blow to the head and begins to suffer convulsions.
In the midst of the confusion, the other teenager flees, while some bystanders try to help their companion, initially believing that he was faking the incident. One teenager asks for water to assist the victim, who briefly falls unconscious.
The Civil Police of Minas Gerais (PCMG) became aware of the incident after the video went viral on November 4, which generated a wave of rumors about the young man's health status. Some versions on social networks wrongly claimed that he had died, but the authorities denied this information. According to the Civil Police, the teenager was transferred to an emergency unit and discharged the same day.
In an official statement, PCMG clarified that at that time there was no report of death or formalized police incident in relation to the case. However, a procedure has been initiated to investigate an alleged infraction similar to the crime of bullying, seeking to establish responsibilities. The Brumadinho Civil Police Station is in charge of the investigation and continues to work to clarify the facts.
For its part, the Brumadinho Municipality confirmed that the incident occurred outside the school environment and that the teenager has resumed his academic activities.
