What should have been a memorable event turned into a tragedy when a woman lost her life while trying to take a selfie

In an event that attracted thousands of people, the Aragón train station in Nopala de Villagrán, Hidalgo, became the scene of a tragedy. During the exhibition of the Empress 2816 steam locomotive, a woman identified as Dulce Alondra García Hernández, 28 years old and a resident of Huichapan, lost her life when trying to take a selfie too close to the moving train.

The event, which should have been a historic and joyful moment, was marred when the locomotive, coming from Canada and en route to Mexico City, hit the woman, who immediately fell to the side of the tracks. The incident was captured on video by several attendees, who were there to witness the passing of the famous train.

Witnesses report that Dulce García was accompanied by her partner and her son, who witnessed the tragedy. Despite warnings from security personnel to stay at a safe distance, the woman got too close to take the photo, resulting in the fatal accident.

In one of the videos shared on social networks, a person is heard shouting "move, move", alerting those present about the danger. Despite efforts to provide medical attention, the woman had already died on impact.

The Empress 2816 locomotive, which is on display as part of a special tour that will culminate in Mexico City on June 4, made a 20-minute stop at the Aragón station.

At the time of impact, the train was going at full speed and had no chance to stop in time.
