Man shoots his partner's son and confronts the Police
The aggressor, after firing the shot, locked himself in and refused to surrender despite negotiations
Friendsville, Tennessee-A dramatic family fight in Friendsville, Tennessee, ended in a shooting when Jeffrey Scott West, 68, shot his stepson, Kyle W. Spitze, 24, during a heated argument. The incident occurred on August 25, 2023, but the images became known recently.
In the images, West is visibly enraged, threatening to shoot Spitze. "I'm getting ready to shoot you! Right now," he shouts while holding a gun. Spitze, in bed, challenges West, who continues to threaten him. Spitze's mother, Melanie, intervenes to calm the situation, but the confrontation quickly escalates.
At a critical moment, West fires, hitting Spitze in the ear. Fortunately, Spitze manages to escape and call for help while his mother warns West about the legal consequences. The police are alerted and arrive at the scene at 8:15 p.m.
West, barricaded in the house, refuses to surrender during more than two hours of negotiation over a public address system. Faced with resistance, the authorities send in a sheriff's K-9, triggering a confrontation in which West decides to shoot himself.
The mother and Spitze, who were outside the house, were unharmed. Despite the tense confrontation, no police officers were injured.
