Fake BonIce seller deceives the country and goes viral

The man, in tears and wearing clothing from the BonIce company, states that he has been assaulted to touch the pockets of citizens

In an unexpected twist, Colombia today witnessed a video that went viral on social networks, where an elderly man, supposedly a BonIce worker, reported that his cart had been stolen near the Movistar Arena, in Teusaquillo. The images showed the man, visibly affected, expressing through tears that this act had left him in ruins.

The emotion of the video reached the hearts of many Colombians, who were willing to support him financially, requesting account numbers for transfers. The virality of the case was such that public figures, such as the Member of the Colombian House of Representatives, Miguel Polo Polo, published on their social networks offering their help to the alleged seller. Polo Polo also took the opportunity to make a political comment, comparing the seller's situation with the policies of President Gustavo Petro.

However, the situation changed when other Internet users began to report that this man was not really a BonIce seller and that, on repeated occasions, he had been seen in different areas of the city using the same modus operandi to ask for money.

Hours after the initial viralization, a new video emerged. In it, a citizen confronts the alleged seller, who was in an obvious state of intoxication, lying on the grass. The woman shows evidence that the man has two bottles of alcohol in his bag, suggesting that the money collected was spent on drinks. Additionally, she claims that the supposed seller actually owns property.

With this twist, many Colombians expressed their indignation at feeling deceived, and several confirmed having transferred money, thinking they were helping a real victim.
