SANTIAGO, CHILE-The well-known influencer Sabrina Durán Montero, who rose to fame on digital platforms for sharing aspects of her life in prison, was shot dead last Tuesday, October 24. The tragic event took place in the metropolitan neighborhood of Padre Hurtado, at the confluence of Alberto Blest Ganna and Primera Transversal streets.
Witnesses to the incident reported that a group of hooded individuals intercepted her, stole her vehicle and attacked her, leaving her with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the quick intervention of the Carabineros, who transferred her to the Santa Rosa medical center, the influencer died due to her injuries.
Known as "La Ina" on social media, Durán Montero accumulated around 550,000 followers on TikTok and 158,000 on Instagram. Her popularity skyrocketed when, while in prison, she began documenting her daily life, earning the nickname 'narco influencer'. After being released from prison under a probation agreement, she continued her online activity, promoting beauty products and sharing dance videos that had millions of views.
Her personal history was also marked by controversy. In March 2022, Durán Montero and her brothers were arrested for drug trafficking in Peñaflor, with the influencer being identified as the leader of the criminal group. An escape attempt, in which she tried to escape a major police operation by jumping out of a window, added even more legend to her name, as well as rumors about rivalries with other drug gangs.
