Angélica Jaramillo Confesses Her Struggle Against Addiction: It Doesn't Make Me Happy, It's a Facade

Angélica Jaramillo, Colombian actress and model, confesses her struggle against drug addiction during a live broadcast

Colombian actress and model Angélica Jaramillo surprised her followers by making a shocking confession through a live broadcast on her Instagram account. Known for her participation in the reality show "Protagonistas de Nuestra Tele 2012", Jaramillo revealed that she has been dealing with addiction problems for the past two years, a struggle that she has kept silent until now.

During the broadcast, the actress, who has more than 72 thousand followers on the social network, shared details about her experience with drugs, admitting that, although they provide her with momentary happiness, they have not allowed her to achieve the peace she yearns for. “I have been using drugs for several years. It doesn't make me happy. It's momentary happiness, of course, to think or I don't know what, about strong issues that I have had in my life,” Jaramillo confessed, visibly emotional.

The pressure of maintaining an impeccable public image has been a difficult burden to bear for the actress, who also expressed her tiredness of hiding her true situation. “I got tired of being and saying ‘I'm fine, I'm fine’ and it's not like that, I'm not fine… I always dreamed of being the best mother, the best wife,” she added, acknowledging the dissonance between the life she showed and the reality she faced.

Angélica, who has also participated in several music videos, said that the need for authenticity led her to break the silence. “I was not able to get up after the last of my falls and I preferred to give up rather than continue hiding a reality behind a facade. Many things happen here, we hide, we are not original, they do not show themselves as they are, I am real, this is Angélica Jaramillo," she declared, stressing the importance of being authentic and transparent.

The actress also mentioned that her testimony seeks to serve as a warning about the dangers of addiction, a problem that affects millions of people around the world. "I do this as a testimony and I know that they will show me everywhere, everywhere, but the truth does not matter to me," she said, showing her determination not to hide her truth any longer.

After this revelation, her sister Sofía Jaramillo, also a public figure in the field of modeling and social media in Colombia, expressed her support and concern through her stories on Instagram. In a statement, Sofía thanked those who have provided support and recognized how difficult it has been for the family to face this situation. "We have been fighting alongside her, and trying to help her overcome this situation," Sofia wrote, assuring that they will continue to provide their unconditional love and support.
