A merchant loses his life in an armed attack on his premises

Samborondón, Ecuador, May 29 -A tragic event shook the center of Samborondón on Wednesday afternoon when a 40-year-old man was murdered in his own business. The attack, which occurred at 5:40 p.m., left local authorities on alert.

The event took place on the third floor of Grupo Murruca, located on 24 de Mayo and Bolívar streets. According to the first investigations carried out by agents of the Violent Deaths Unit (Dinased) of Guayaquil, the owner of the premises was attacked by two hitmen who opened fire without saying a word.

A security camera captured the moment when the attackers, both young people, entered the establishment and shot directly at the merchant and an employee.

One of the hitmen was wearing a black cap, white sweater and light blue shorts, while the other was wearing a black sweatshirt, black shorts and also a black cap. The images also show customers, including a mother with her child, fleeing in terror along with a dog and a cat that were in the place.

"They didn't steal anything from him, they went straight to take his life," explained a police source, emphasizing that the attack seems to be related to the merchant's refusal to pay an extortion imposed by criminal gangs. This version is supported by the reluctance of neighbors to give statements, indicating a climate of fear and intimidation in the area.

The owner of the premises, who was shot several times, was quickly helped by people present and taken in a 4x4 truck to a nearby hospital.

Unfortunately, he arrived without vital signs. The employee, who also received a bullet, is receiving medical attention and his life is not in danger.

24 de Mayo and Bolívar streets remained closed while Criminalistics experts carried out ballistic evidence and other investigations at the scene. The police continue to review security camera recordings to identify and capture those responsible for this reprehensible attack.
