Three Young People Disappear After Flash Flood: Two Bodies Were Found

On May 31, a heartbreaking moment was experienced in northern Italy when three young people were filmed hugging each other moments before being swept away by the sudden flooding of the Natisone River due to heavy flooding.

The tragic event occurred near the commune of Udine, where the river waters suddenly rose, trapping Patrizia Cormos, 20 years old; Bianca Doros, 23 years old; and Cristian Molnar, 25, while they walked along the shore.

Italian media reported that Bianca Doros and Cristian Molnar were a couple. After an intense search, the lifeless bodies of Cormos and Doros were found on Sunday, while Molnar is still missing.

One of the young women managed to make an emergency call to the police around 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Although firefighters arrived quickly, they could not prevent the tragedy.

Giorgio Basile, head of the Udine provincial fire department, explained to the British newspaper The Telegraph: "We threw a rope, but the flood waters literally swallowed them in front of us. "We saw them disappear." Lifeguards did everything possible to reach them, but the strong current prevented rescue.

Patrizia Cormos, 20, was studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Udine and had gone out for a walk to take photos. Her mother had preferred to stay home because she was tired.

Bianca Doros, of Romanian origin, was studying economics in Bucharest and had arrived in Udine a few days before to visit her parents.

Her boyfriend, Cristian Molnar, also Romanian, had traveled from Austria to meet her. Cristian Molnar is still missing.

In statements to a local media, Patrizia Cormos' mother expressed that she had advised her daughter not to go out due to her fatigue, but the young woman decided to go out "for a little while" to take some photos, without imagining the looming tragedy.

She testified that her daughter did not abandon her friend Bianca Doros, not even in the worst moments, since Cormos knew how to swim, but Doros did not. She "could have been saved, even alone."
