Retired police officer foils robbery in Claypole and shoots criminal in self-defense

The accomplice of the robber managed to escape and is being intensively sought by local authorities


A former non-commissioned officer of the Buenos Aires Police confronted two criminals on Sunday morning, October 20, who tried to steal his motorcycle in Claypole. In the middle of the struggle, the retired police officer shot one of the assailants, who died on the spot, while his accomplice managed to escape and is being intensively sought by the authorities.

The incident occurred around 9 a.m. at the intersection of Catedral and diagonal Los Tilos streets. The retired non-commissioned officer, who was riding his Yamaha YBR R3 motorcycle, was intercepted by two criminals on board another red Cg150 motorcycle.

The passenger quickly got out and pounced on the victim, triggering a fight in the street.

During the confrontation, the thief tried to take an object from his pocket, which led the ex-policeman to take out his Taurus PT 111 N weapon and shoot him in the chest.

The criminal died on the spot, while his partner, who remained on the motorcycle, fled the scene and has not yet been located by the authorities.

The struggle was recorded by a security camera but has not yet been revealed to the public. The Gendarmerie has kept the material secret while the investigations advance.

The case is being investigated by the Functional Investigation Unit (UFI) of Almirante Brown, which has not yet ordered the arrest of the retired policeman. The investigations were carried out by the Gendarmerie, who are seeking to clarify the details of the incident.
