Woman takes her friend to an alley and executes her, claims self-defense

The shooter faces serious charges of premeditated murder, despite her claim of self-defense


In the state of Washington, United States, a 33-year-old woman was arrested for the cold-blooded murder of one of her friends in an alley. Rickesha D. Overton faces charges of first-degree premeditated murder with a firearm and second-degree assault with a deadly weapon for the murder of Alisia DeCoteau.

The incident took place in the 2500 block of Western Avenue in Seattle on March 3, at approximately 1:10 a.m., when first responders responded to an emergency call about shots fired at a building. Upon arrival, they found DeCoteau with multiple gunshot wounds in the alley between Wall St. and Vine. Despite medical efforts, DeCoteau was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities quickly identified Overton as the shooter, who was detained trying to flee the scene with a handgun and an empty magazine.




According to prosecutor's documents, security cameras captured the moment Overton led DeCoteau at gunpoint into the alley, taunted her and then shot her multiple times, even after she ran out of ammunition. Overton was heard yelling at DeCoteau before the shooting: "I'll shoot you. Say I won't."

Initially, Overton claimed that she had acted in self-defense, claiming that DeCoteau had entered her apartment. However, she later changed her story, stating that DeCoteau was not dead and expressing her desire to attend her friend's funeral.

Although authorities have not specified the nature of the relationship between Overton and DeCoteau, it was confirmed that they were friends on Facebook. DeCoteau, she was the mother of a baby and is now being cared for by the victim's older sister.
