Woman poisons her boyfriend with chocolate

In the neighborhood of Engenho Novo, in the north of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, an unexpected tragedy has occurred. Luiz Marcelo Antônio Ormond, a highly respected businessman, was found dead in his apartment under strange circumstances. Julia Andrade Cathermol Pimenta, his girlfriend, is the main suspect. The details of the case have left investigators perplexed and neighbors horrified.

It all started when Ormond's neighbors alerted the authorities due to an unbearable smell emanating from his apartment. Upon entering, the firefighters and police found the businessman's body in an advanced state of decomposition, sitting on the living room sofa. The discovery included packets of morphine and two working fans, in a failed attempt to hide the rot.

Building security recordings revealed that on Friday, May 17, Luiz Marcelo was last seen in the company of Julia. The cameras captured a disturbing detail: Luiz Marcelo held a plate with a chocolate bonbon, while Julia carried a bottle of beer. Shortly afterward, Luiz Marcelo showed signs of poisoning.

The forensic report confirmed that Luiz Marcelo had ingested a poisoned chocolate bonbon, known locally as brigadeirão. Julia, after the death of her boyfriend, stayed in the apartment throughout the weekend, leaving alone and using Luiz's car, which she later sold.

Julia's behavior baffled investigators, who discovered that she lived with the corpse for several days, trying to mask the smell with fans. Police also detained Suyane Breschak, a psychic and Julia's spiritual mentor, who was in possession of Luiz Marcelo's car and computer. Breschak confessed that Julia owed him a considerable sum of money for "spiritual consultations."

Julia tried to remove any trace of the crime by cleaning her apartment with bleach. However, the evidence and testimonies collected indicate that this was a meticulously orchestrated plan to seize Luiz Marcelo's assets. 

Appearance of the suspect on a TV program

Julia is still a fugitive, but on Sunday (June 2) she appeared in an excerpt published on the TV Globo program Fantático to give her version of the events. Police initially treated Luiz's death as suspicious, not a homicide. However, during her testimony, Júlia became even more the main suspect. She revealed that she had been in a sporadic relationship with Luiz since 2013 and that on April 19 of this year they began living together. A few days later, on April 24, Luiz changed his marital status to "married" on a social network.

A witness interviewed by Fantastic stated that Júlia pressured Luiz for a stable union, but he was afraid for his assets. "He said a lot that he was always fighting with her, he always talked to me, that they fought a lot and everything. He was a guy who was afraid of getting married, he told me, because of his assets, afraid of separating," said the witness.

Delegate Marcos Buss, of the 25th DP (Engenho Novo), expressed his surprise at Júlia's coldness during the testimony. Images recorded by the Civil Police and revealed by Fantático show Júlia smiling several times throughout the interview. "It is an aberrant case. Because it shows extreme coldness. Impressive," declared the delegate.

Júlia's behavior and emerging details of the investigation continue to shock the public, as police work to locate her and further investigate the case.
