Mother and daughter injure teenager with knife after dispute

An event shook the population of Moyobamba, Peru, last Monday, August 26, when a 15-year-old teenager, a student at the "Germán Tejada Vela" I.E., was the victim of an attack by two women, identified as mother and daughter. The event occurred near the El Dorado sector, in the Belén neighborhood, where the young woman was cornered, beaten and stabbed multiple times, leaving her seriously injured.

The attackers, identified as Vionela Barboza Acuña, 43 years old, and her 17-year-old daughter, with initials N.C.R., attacked the teenager in block 9 of the Callao extension. According to witnesses, the women searched for the victim, who had previously had disagreements with Barboza's daughter. The images captured by a witness show how the young woman was dragged along the ground while one of the attackers held a knife with which they subsequently wounded her in the chest and ribs.

After the attack, the teenager was left lying down and was rescued by her friends, who rushed her to the Minsa Hospital in Moyobamba. Despite rapid assistance, the severity of her injuries has kept the community in suspense, while the young woman fights for her life.

The head of the Criminal Investigation Division (Divincri) of Moyobamba, Ever Becerra, said that before the incident, the teenager had gone to the attackers' house, accompanied by her mother, to confront Barboza's daughter. This would have triggered the reaction that ended with the attack.

The Prosecutor's Office has acted quickly in the face of this serious event. Vionela Barboza Acuña faces a nine-month preventive detention order, a measure that was approved by the Judiciary. Her daughter, for her part, has been preventively hospitalized for three months in the Juvenile Diagnostic and Rehabilitation Center for Women ‘Las Margaritas’ in Lima, while the investigation continues.

The victim's mother, who arrived desperately at the hospital after learning of the attack, and other relatives are awaiting the medical progress of the teenager, whose health condition remains delicate.
