Young girl loses her life in tragic electrical accident in Alta Verapaz

A tragic accident in La Tinta, Alta Verapaz, in Guatemala, has left the population in complete sadness. Débora Rebeca Xi Artola, only 15 years old, lost her life after receiving an electric shock while taking photos on the terrace of a house.

The event occurred on Thursday, August 1 in the El Centro neighborhood, zone 1, according to witnesses and the Municipal Departmental Firefighters of Station 108.

The teenager, in the company of two friends, was on the terrace of a two-story house when she accidentally touched a high-tension cable.

The strong electric shock immobilized her, causing her to fall from a height of approximately six metres. Although the paramedics responded quickly, their efforts to save her were in vain, as the young woman's head had been separated from her body.

Débora was on her way to a gymnastics rehearsal when she decided to stop to take some photos on the terrace, not realizing the imminent danger of the high-tension cables nearby due to the strong winds that hit the municipality of La Tinta.

The images of the incident, captured by several witnesses who witnessed the moment when the young woman was electrocuted, have been widely shared on social media. Her family is devastated by the tragedy.
