29-year-old young man loses his life in a fight in Puerto Gaitán
The incident was captured by security cameras and is under investigation by local authorities
Puerto Gaitán, Meta, Colombia - A tragic incident occurred on the night of Wednesday, June 12, in a public establishment in the Popular neighborhood in Puerto Gaitán, resulting in the loss of a young life.
The victim, identified as Mike Cristofer Tejeiro Vargas, 29 years old and from Acacías, Meta, died after a fight that quickly escalated into violence.
Mike Cristofer Tejeiro Vargas was attending a public establishment with two women. The place's security cameras captured the beginning of a heated argument between Mike and three customers.
Those involved were described as a man with a cap and white shirt, another with a black sweater and a third with a gray shirt.
The situation quickly escalated when the man in the white shirt threw the contents of a beer bottle at Mike. In response, Mike, armed with a knife, attempted to attack the man, but failed in his attempt.
The man in the black sweater backed away, while the man in the gray shirt, not clearly recorded on camera at the time, attacked Mike with a knife, causing a fatal wound to the back of his right chest.
Fight for Life
Despite the serious injury, Mike continued to argue with the man in the white shirt without realizing the seriousness of his situation. Within seconds, he began to faint from blood loss, falling to the ground as he tried to get up again.
Finally, some witnesses came to his aid and called emergency services. Unfortunately, help was slow to arrive and, when he was rushed to hospital, doctors were unable to save his life and he was declared deceased.
Research in Progress
According to local media, the Criminal Investigation Directorate and INTERPOL (SIJIN) carried out the technical inspection of the body. The urgent acts have been sent to the local Prosecutor's Office to continue the investigation of the case.
Several local media have unofficially reported on the capture of those responsible, but authorities have not confirmed these arrests and those responsible for Mike's murder are still being sought.
