A young mother remains in critical condition after suffering one of the most brutal attacks recently recorded in Argentina. The case, which occurred in the province of Jujuy, is being investigated as an attempted femicide and has generated public outrage.

The victim, identified as 29-year-old Marisol García, was intercepted while returning home to the town of Perico. According to the judicial reconstruction, she was forced into a vehicle and taken to a rural area, where she was beaten, sexually abused, and subsequently set on fire.

Despite the severity of the attack, the woman survived long enough to call for help. She was rushed to Pablo Soria Hospital, where she remains in intensive care, in an induced coma and on a ventilator. She suffered severe burns and multiple injuries.

Who is the main suspect?

A 34-year-old man, identified as Luis Alberto Ramón Sajama, who worked as an informal taxi driver, was arrested in connection with the crime.

Authorities located him after tracking a vehicle believed to have been used in the attack. During the raids, key items such as the car, a cell phone, and clothing were seized.

In addition, investigators found incriminating evidence, including an empty fuel tank that may have been used to set the victim on fire.

The accused was charged with attempted aggravated homicide due to gender-based violence and will remain in pretrial detention while the investigation continues.

Family members, social organizations, and feminist groups have called for demonstrations to demand justice and a full investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, the priority remains the medical evolution of the victim, whose testimony will be key to fully reconstructing the event.
