18-Year-Old Films Himself Attacking Several People and Is Arrested

In an incident on August 12 in Eskişehir, Turkey, 18-year-old Arda Küçükyetim was arrested after attacking five people with a knife and an axe at a local tea garden. The attack took place in Şehit Rüstem Demirbaş Park on Rauf Orbay Street in the Uluönder district. The assailant was wearing a helmet, mask, assault vest, and a Nazi "Black Sun" emblem on his chest. Police apprehended Küçükyetim as he attempted to flee.

The five victims were transported to the Eskişehir municipal hospital, with two reported to be in critical condition. Authorities are investigating the motivations behind the attack, particularly given the Nazi symbolism on the attacker's emblem.

Preliminary reports suggest that Küçükyetim may have planned the attack with an accomplice from Eastern Europe, whom he allegedly met online. According to Medyascope, Küçükyetim, a resident of the Çamlıca district, was described by acquaintances as introverted and deeply interested in computers.

Küçükyetim reportedly spent most of his time at home in front of the computer, had little social interaction with people, and only occasionally went to the park with his family.

After the attack, a manifesto allegedly belonging to Küçükyetim went viral on social media, in which he expressed his hatred for humanity since secondary school and detailed his intention to attack immigrants, Syrian children, and LGBTI+ individuals.

He also mentioned his admiration for figures such as Anders Behring Breivik, Brenton Tarrant, Stephen Paddock, and Timothy McVeigh, all known for carrying out mass attacks.

The manifesto reveals a disturbing mental state and extremist ideology. The investigation is ongoing to determine whether Küçükyetim was influenced or directed by his supposed accomplice.

Authorities have contacted Küçükyetim's parents, who have declined to comment on the incident.
