In a devastating family tragedy in Austell, Georgia, a 16-year-old Venezuelan teenager lost her life at the hands of her stepfather, Alejandro Mario Bencomo Aguilar, a 57-year-old man, also of Venezuelan origin. The crime occurred on September 6 in a house located in the 7000 block of Fringe Flower Drive, in Cobb County. Police discovered the minor's body with multiple gunshot wounds on the second floor of the house.

The young woman's mother was not at home at the time of the crime, as she was working. Upon returning, he found the gruesome scene and, unable to communicate in English, ran down the street asking neighbors to call the police. Officers quickly arrived at the scene, but despite efforts to revive the minor, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they found Bencomo Aguilar with a self-inflicted wound. The man had attempted to take his own life by stabbing and shooting himself in the mouth before being detained by officers. He was immediately taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he underwent surgery and is recovering in police custody.

Neighbors of the area, who are also of Venezuelan origin, expressed their surprise at the incident, as they had never noticed signs of violence in the family.

According to one of the neighbors, the family had lived in the house for approximately two years and, although they were not close, they greeted each other cordially. The teenager was frequently seen going to and from school.

Police have reported that after his recovery, Bencomo Aguilar will face charges of murder, aggravated assault and first-degree child cruelty. Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind this crime.
