Sogamoso authorities are investigating the death of a minor. The family points to a possible history of violence in the relationship

Authorities in Sogamoso, Boyacá, are investigating the tragic death of Dana Sofía Chacón Ortega, a 16-year-old girl whose body was found on March 15 in her home, located in the northern part of the city. The initial report was made by Carlos Piragauta, 38, who claimed to be the victim's partner.

Although the preliminary report points to a possible case of self-harm, Dana Sofía's family has requested a thorough investigation, alleging a history of violence in the relationship.

Neighbors of the couple have provided key testimonies, stating that arguments between the two were frequent and that, on several occasions, episodes of aggression were evident. These accounts have sparked outrage in the community and intensified pressure to clarify the events.

The National Institute of Forensic Medicine is conducting forensic studies to determine the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, authorities have summoned Carlos Piragauta to testify, seeking to clarify whether he bore any criminal responsibility in the case.

The Sogamoso Mayor's Office also addressed the unfortunate event through a statement on its social media, expressing its condolences and noting that "unfortunately, tonight, a minor decided to end her life." It also reported that the Inter-Institutional Route has been activated to provide assistance to the family and support the investigation.

Dana Sofía's family insists that authorities must analyze every detail and consider any relevant background information. The community hopes that the truth will come to light and that, if there are any responsible parties, justice will be done.
