Investigation in Murcia after allegations against a plastic surgeon for abuse during procedures

Authorities are investigating a serious case in Murcia, where a plastic surgeon, identified as David González Sosa, originally from Colombia, remains in pretrial detention after being accused of allegedly sexually assaulting a patient who was sedated during an operation.

The investigation was expanded after three more women expressed their intention to report similar incidents that occurred in the operating room.

The case came to light when two nurses noticed unusual behavior during a procedure and decided to record the scene.

In the footage, which local media accessed, movements that the nurses considered inappropriate can be seen while the patient was under anesthesia.

According to her testimony, the doctor allegedly changed the orientation of the operating table, used excessive lubricant, and performed pelvic thrusts between the patient's legs.

The main victim, identified as María Victoria, had hired the surgeon for a breast augmentation procedure using fat grafting from her inner thighs.

During the procedure, she lay with her legs open and in a vulnerable state that, according to the complaint, could have been exploited for an assault.

Her lawyer, Raúl Pardo-Geijo, explained that the video contains evidence open to interpretation and that the police contacted his client to warn her of the possibility that she may have been the victim of a sexual offense. He also indicated that any biological traces on the surgical mesh will be analyzed by the police.

In addition, three other patients who were operated on by the same doctor have stated that they do not clearly remember what happened, but wish to clarify whether they may have been victims of similar incidents.

Given the seriousness of the accusations and to prevent possible repeat offenses or risk of flight, the court ordered the surgeon to be remanded in custody while the investigation and evidence gathering by the security forces continue.
