Woman dragging a dog tied to her truck identified

A woman in Tlaquepaque was arrested after being caught dragging a dog tied to her truck

In the municipality of Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, Mexico, a woman was arrested after being caught dragging a stray dog with her truck. The incident, recorded in the Revolución neighborhood, generated outrage among witnesses and on social media, where a video was spread showing her reprehensible act.

The woman, identified as Catalina Ledesma Aguayo, was confronted by citizens after they observed how the dog, tied with a cable to the vehicle, was dragged through the streets. Faced with the situation, several witnesses tried to stop the mistreatment, blocking the way to the car and complaining about the state of the animal, whose legs were visibly injured.

Ledesma Aguayo, who claimed to be a police officer, responded indifferently to the complaints. She claimed that the dog had climbed into her truck and “had damaged the seats,” justifying her behavior. During the exchange with witnesses, the woman insisted that “she was not dragging it” and that the animal was “from the street,” trying to minimize the suffering she was causing her.

In the video, which quickly went viral on social media, the woman also said that she was in a hurry because she had to go to an appointment, and offered to have someone take the dog. Under pressure from those present, Ledesma Aguayo was detained until the arrival of local authorities, who transferred her to the Tlaquepaque police station.

The Municipal Preventive Police Station of San Pedro Tlaquepaque issued a statement confirming that Ledesma Aguayo was arrested for animal abuse. According to authorities, a unit immediately went to the scene after receiving the report, where they corroborated the situation and found the dog tied with a cable to the vehicle, a silver 2020 Nissan Kicks. The case was turned over to the Public Prosecutor's Office to determine the corresponding legal actions.

For its part, the dog was transferred to the Animal Health facilities of the municipality, where it receives veterinary attention for its evaluation and care. The local government urged citizens to report any act of animal abuse and stressed the importance of protecting animal rights.
