Man sets himself on fire in front of his ex-partner

A dramatic episode shook the streets of Burgos, Spain, when a 40-year-old man of Nepalese nationality set himself on fire in front of the store where his ex-partner works, leaving both seriously injured. The tragic incident occurred on the sidewalk of number 84 Avenida del Cid.

According to reports from the Government subdelegation, the man arrived at the scene looking for his ex-partner and, after an unfortunate turn of events, he doused himself with gasoline and set himself on fire in front of the horrified gaze of passers-by and his ex-partner. .

Neighbors and witnesses to the event acted quickly. One of them, the owner of a nearby business, used a fire extinguisher to try to put out the flames that were consuming the man.

"Imagine being on fire for about 20 seconds, it had to be a horrible pain. When I looked at his passport, his face was unrecognizable," declared the brave witness.

The man was rushed to the University Hospital of Burgos (HUBU) in serious condition, with severe burns on his body. Despite being conscious, he could not communicate due to the language barrier, since he did not speak Spanish.

On the other hand, the shocking scene also emotionally affected the ex-couple, who witnessed the event and fainted minutes later. Both were treated by health services, while the National Police of Burgos began an investigation into the incident, classified as a suicide attempt by the man.
