Man kills his mother and daughter, leaving his partner seriously injured

San Francisco de Macorís, Duarte province, is experiencing moments of profound dismay following a tragedy. A man identified as Eddy de Jesús Camarena Martínez, 28, killed his mother and four-year-old daughter, and seriously injured his partner in a knife attack.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, March 19, in the Los Jardines area. According to witnesses, Camarena Martínez attacked his mother, Milagros Altagracia Jiménez, 61, and his daughter, Elizabeth Camarena, just four years old, causing their immediate deaths. Her partner, Erenice Gómez Vásquez, 23, was seriously injured and remains hospitalized in critical condition at San Vicente de Paúl Hospital.

Neighbors, noticing the situation, attempted to intervene by throwing stones at the attacker to stop the massacre, but unfortunately were unable to prevent the fatal outcome. Jesús María Cruz, a local resident, sadly expressed: "Unfortunately, nothing could be done."

The tragedy has stunned residents, who describe the family as good people and active members of a local evangelical church. Antonia Salazar, a family friend, said she still couldn't believe what had happened. José Rosa, the uncle of the injured young woman and the deceased girl, commented with surprise: "In all the time he's been with the family, I never realized he was someone willing to do something like that."

A close source, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that Camarena Martínez was experiencing mental health issues that may have influenced his actions.

In the midst of the tragedy, a six-year-old girl, also the couple's daughter, miraculously managed to escape the scene, saving her life by running away.

National Police and Public Prosecutor's Office officers responded to the scene and arrested the assailant. Eddy de Jesús Camarena Martínez is expected to be brought before a court in the coming hours to answer for the double homicide and the serious injuries inflicted on his partner.

The victims' families are demanding justice. "There is no way to justify a person killing his mother, a daughter, and trying to kill his wife," stated Damaris Paulino, the injured girl's cousin.
