Man arrested for fatal outcome in a domestic argument
The police arrested the attacker and his parents to investigate the heinous crime
Last Wednesday, February 14, where Valentine's Day was being celebrated in Potashpur, East Medinipur, India, when Gautam Guchait, 40, a street vendor of artisanal potato chips, a resident of the Potashpur police station, held an event brutal by murdering his wife, Phulrani Guchait, 27, in the middle of a family dispute.
Neighbors and passersby were stunned to witness the shocking scene. Gautam, visibly disturbed, sat on a nearby bench after shouting and yelling for a while, taking a share of his wife. The turmoil in Gautam's family over the past few days suggests that the fatal outcome occurred after a final argument.
Gautam, who had earlier made headlines for entering the lion cage at Alipore zoo three years ago, was arrested by the Potashpur police after receiving alarm from locals. Phulrani's body was recovered from the room where the femicide occurred and sent to the hospital for autopsy.
The police have also detained Gautam's parents for questioning, while a thorough investigation is underway to unravel the details of the murder.
Some residents suggest that Gautam could face mental problems, considering his previous behavior at the zoo. A psychological test is planned to evaluate his mental state, and if there are no disorders, the man would be charged with femicide.
