Gunman kills pharmacy owner

Josevan Borges Leal, 54, was shot dead inside his pharmacy in Goiatins, in the north of the state, this Wednesday morning (July 17). The tragic event occurred around 10 a.m. when a man entered the establishment with a cap and a disposable mask on his face, and shot at least six times at the victim before fleeing.

The pharmacy's security cameras captured the moment of the attack. According to the images, there were other people next to Josevan, who fled as soon as the shooting started. The aggressor, after shooting, quickly escaped through a side door.

The Civil Police reported that Josevan's body was transferred to the Araguaína Legal Medicine Center for necroscopic examinations and will later be delivered to his family.

Investigators have gathered information at the crime scene with the goal of determining the circumstances of the murder and identifying the perpetrator, whose motive is still under investigation.

A witness informed the Military Police that the weapon used in the crime was a 38 caliber revolver. The murderer fled on a motorcycle and, as of Wednesday afternoon, had not been found.

However, authorities were alerted that the suspect could be heading towards the state of Maranhão. Barriers were set up in some areas of the region and local police were informed of the crime.
