Finding of the person responsible in the Liliana Guadalupe case shakes Chiapas

The Attorney General's Office finds the main suspect in the femicide of Liliana Guadalupe, a girl who disappeared while selling candy, dead

TUXTLA GUTIÉRREZ, Chiapas — The Attorney General's Office of the State of Chiapas reported the discovery of Víctor José Carrera Mayor, the main suspect in the femicide of Liliana Guadalupe Marroquín, a 12-year-old girl who disappeared on October 19.

Liliana, who sold candy in downtown Tuxtla Gutiérrez, was found dead on October 23 in a house where the suspect lived, triggering a search and demand for justice that mobilized both the authorities and society.

Liliana's disappearance generated great indignation on social networks and pressure on the authorities to solve the case. The Prosecutor's Office, in response, issued a search card and offered a reward of 500 thousand pesos for information that would help locate Carrera Mayor, a chef and pastry seller on social networks.

This Sunday, October 27, the Prosecutor's Office reported that Carrera Mayor's body was found in a home located in the northwest of Tuxtla Gutiérrez.

Personnel from Forensic Services went to the place of discovery to carry out the necessary procedures and transfer the body to the Forensic Medical Service, where the autopsy will be performed. The Prosecutor's Office continues to collect data as part of the investigation.

Carrera Mayor's profile was widely visible on social media, especially on Facebook, where he posted images with allusions to violence, even towards women, and shared coded memories of illicit acts in the past.

In posts related to Liliana's case, the murderer reacted with inappropriate "I'm amused" that outraged the community.
