Workshop explosion leaves employee seriously injured
The employee poured paint thinner into a workshop stove, being seriously injured after the explosion
Istanbul, Türkiye. In an unfortunate incident that recently took place at an aluminum workshop in the Maltepe Cevizli district, an employee was seriously injured after an explosion caused by reckless handling of a paint thinner.
On December 9, three employees lit a stove in the workshop to combat the cold that hits the city. Z. Ç., one of the workers, decided to use a portion of the paint thinner to fan the flames of the stove. However, as the fire subsided, the employee attempted to pour more thinner, resulting in an explosion that left him trapped in the flames.
Alerted by the situation, his co-workers immediately intervened to protect him and extinguish the flames. Medical services and police were notified and responded quickly to the emergency.
Medical personnel, together with rescue teams, managed to recover Z.Ç., who suffered second and third degree burns due to the explosion. He was rushed to the hospital, where he is currently fighting for his life.
