Spain: Young Algerian arrested for homicide after running over a young woman

This Sunday morning, a tragedy struck the Ronda del Calvari in Algemesí, València, Spain, when a 19-year-old young man fatally ran over a 16-year-old girl, identified as Marta 'N'. The young woman had just left a nightclub with friends when the fatal incident occurred. The driver, of Algerian origin, fled, but thanks to witness descriptions, the National Police managed to arrest him and charge him with homicide.

According to witness accounts, the aggressor had a previous altercation with another young male and, in an attempt to cause him harm, he ended up accidentally running over Marta. The investigation is ongoing with the participation of the Homicide Group and the Scientific Police to clarify the circumstances of the tragic event.

The Emergency Information and Coordination Center (CICU) received the alert at 5:40 a.m., and despite the efforts of the medical teams, the young woman could not be recovered, confirming her death.

The Algemesí City Council has decreed this Monday as an official day of mourning in honor of the victim. A minute of silence will be held at noon in front of the town hall. The mayor, José Javier Sanchis, expressed his dismay and thanked the police and medical services for their work, extending his condolences to the young woman's family and friends.

In videos after the incident, several outraged people can be seen trying to attack the young culprit, who initially escaped but was later captured by the authorities and brought to justice.
