Two arrested for the crime of Héctor Damián Costa

It causes more consternation that the ages of the two captured do not add up to the age of the victim

In a tragic episode in Quilmes, the Buenos Aires Police arrested two suspects related to the murder of Héctor Damián Costa, 49, who was shot in the chest by a criminal when he resisted an attempt to steal his motorcycle.

The crime occurred on Thursday, December 14, around 5:00 p.m. on the corner of Calchaquí Avenue and Jujuy Street, in the south of the Conurbano. Costa, an employee of a well-known restaurant in Puerto Madero, was intercepted by two armed criminals. The attack, captured by witnesses in a shocking video that went viral, shows Costa being knocked down and then shot in the chest as he tries to retrieve his motorcycle.

Costa was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but unfortunately died shortly after 6 p.m. despite medical efforts.

The arrests were carried out in Villa Itatí de Quilmes after an exhaustive investigation led by prosecutor Jorge Saizar. Among those detained is Alexis Meza, 18, who refused to testify this Friday afternoon. The other person involved is a 14-year-old minor, with a history of motorcycle theft and identified as the alleged shooter.

The minor, unimpeachable due to his age, was detained on Pampa Street, in the middle of a settlement in Bernal Oeste. He is believed to have been the one who shot Costa during the violent incident. On the other hand, Meza tried to escape through the roofs of the houses next to his home, but he was captured shortly after.

Although the arrest was made, the victim's motorcycle, stolen during the attack, has not yet been recovered.

The investigation is led by prosecutor Jorge Saizar. Given the age of the minor, the file is divided into two, transferring the part corresponding to the minor to the jurisdiction of juvenile responsibility. Meza will be investigated by Saizar.
