Double homicide on a bus: Investigation points to the female victim's son as a suspect

The victim's son is considered a person of interest; his mother had already filed a robbery complaint against him

PAMPANGA, Philippines - A disturbing video has gone viral on social media, showing two gunmen shooting two sleeping passengers on a bus in Nueva Ecija on Wednesday, November 15. The victims, a couple, were shot in the head and neck, resulting in their tragic and rapid death while traveling in a bus owned by Victory Liner, which was heading from Tuguegarao to Manila.

The attackers, captured on the bus' dashboard camera, were two men wearing camouflage shorts, hats and backpacks. After shooting the victims, they ordered the driver to stop and descended the Maharlika Highway at Minuli village in an unknown direction.

Authorities, alerted by the bus driver, quickly responded to the nearest Community Police Assistance Center (COMPAC) in Barangay Joson. Police are now investigating the double homicide, considering persons of interest.

It has been revealed that a family feud could be the motive behind the murders. The female victim's son, who is considered a "person of interest," was involved in a conflict that led to his mother filing a car theft complaint against him. Although the son has been released on bail, the investigation continues to determine his possible connection to the homicides.

Philippine National Police spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo stressed that the nature of the conflict and identities have not been revealed, but confirmed that the victims and their son were long-time business partners and cohabitants. Police are reviewing CCTV in the area and are not ruling out the possibility that the attackers are hired gunmen due to their "professional" behavior in brandishing weapons.
