Land dispute ends with man attacking his sister with an ax

In an incident that occurred in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, a man identified as Jilani attacked his sister Mahaboobi with an ax over a prolonged dispute over the possession of a property in Penakacherla village. The assault was captured on video and has circulated widely on social media.

The conflict between the brothers had intensified over time, centered on the ownership of a house in Penakacherla. Jilani had claimed the land as hers and had repeatedly threatened his sister Mahaboobi to vacate the place.

The tension reached its peak on Tuesday, July 9, when Jilani decided to take "the law into his own hands" and attacked his sister with an axe.

The incident came to light when @vani_mehrotra posted the video on social media, with the comment: "A man attacks his elder sister with an ax over a land dispute in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh", it quickly went viral throughout India .

The police acted immediately, arresting Jilani and taking Mahaboobi to a nearby hospital where she is receiving treatment for her serious injuries.

The neighbors, who initially left their homes upon hearing the altercation, alerted the authorities and are still in shock at the outcome of the family dispute.

The Anantapur authorities are collecting evidence of the event and continuing with the legal process against Jilani, where he will be charged with domestic violence and attempted murder.
