A 31-year-old man was arrested in Mendoza, accused of attempting to abuse a woman in a business located in the capital of the province. The incident occurred last Wednesday, October 9, when the victim, an employee of a party store on Jorge A Calle, was surprised by the aggressor.
The man, identified as Maximiliano Gabriel Agüero, entered the store pretending to be a customer interested in buying decoration items for his son's birthday. However, when he approached the counter, he closed the door and, under threats of shooting, demanded the keys to the place.
The incident was partially recorded by the store's security cameras, which captured the victim's cries for help. Although the camera did not capture the struggle, it is assumed that Agüero tried to abuse the woman.
The aggressor escaped from the scene on foot, but was arrested shortly after by the police. However, the victim reported that he was released shortly after his initial arrest.
This Friday, the Minister of Security and Justice of Mendoza, Mercedes Rus, confirmed the final arrest of Agüero, who was captured in the San Martín neighborhood after a police intelligence operation.
Currently, he is being held at the 6th Police Station of the Mendoza capital. Agüero, known as "Colorado," has an extensive criminal record that includes robberies, snatching and other minor crimes since 2014. His criminal record includes multiple arrests and releases, with his modus operandi being entering empty stores to steal whatever he found in his path.
The detainee will be charged in the next few hours with the crimes of attempted simple sexual abuse and unlawful deprivation of liberty.
Authorities expect that this time he will remain behind bars for a long period, given his criminal record. Agüero was released last August on parole, after serving part of a sentence for robbery.
