Teacher arrested for kidnapping and harassment of a student in Tijuana

The 62-year-old teacher had already been previously denounced by the parents of the minor

A 62-year-old teacher, identified as Bertha "N", was arrested in flagrante delicto while holding a 16-year-old teenager in a hotel room in downtown Tijuana, Baja California.

The events occurred on September 8, when the young woman's parents reported her disappearance to the Attorney General's Office of the State of Baja California. After several hours of searching, the teenager managed to send a message from a cell phone, revealing her exact location, which allowed the authorities to carry out a rescue operation.

The detainee, a teacher at the "Estación Coahuila" High School in Mexicali, had been previously reported by the minor's parents in June of this year.

According to the complaint, Bertha "N" had been sending messages to the young woman with the intention of starting a romantic relationship. When the teenager refused, the teacher began to harass and threaten her, even putting psychological pressure on her.

Local authorities, headed by the state prosecutor, María Elena Andrade, reported that Bertha "N" was removed from her position at the school after the initial complaint. Currently, the teacher faces charges for corruption of minors, illegal deprivation of liberty and is under investigation for possible sexual abuse.

The quick intervention of the authorities allowed the minor to be safeguarded and the teacher to be arrested, who is now awaiting the corresponding judicial process.
