Movie-like scene: Cop risks life to rescue dog trapped in car

The dramatic operation was caught on video during severe flooding in Australia

An impressive rescue was captured on video in Australia's Northern Territory, where a police officer and a helicopter pilot carried out an extreme maneuver to save a dog trapped inside a vehicle surrounded by a strong current.

The incident occurred when a car became stranded in floodwaters near the town of Katherine, after heavy rains caused widespread flooding in the area. Inside the vehicle were two people and their pet, unable to escape on their own.

In response to the emergency, a helicopter passing by landed just meters from the car, while the officer was lowered directly onto the roof of the vehicle. From there, he managed to bring the human occupants to safety.

The most difficult moment came later. The dog, a large German Shepherd, remained trapped inside the car as the water continued to crash against it. The officer had to break the windows and maneuver carefully to prevent the dog from being swept away by the current.

After several attempts, and with the risk ever-present, he finally managed to free the dog and place it on the roof of the vehicle, where they waited for the helicopter to descend low enough to complete the rescue.

The images of the rescue quickly went viral, showing the tension of the moment and the precision of the operation. Both the police officer and the pilot were widely praised for their quick reaction and coordination in extreme conditions.

The rescue occurred amidst a series of floods that have forced mass evacuations and caused numerous emergencies in northern Australia, with authorities urging people to avoid crossing flooded areas due to the danger they pose.
