From the courts to the bars: former footballer arrested for femicide

The former player was arrested and charged with the femicide of his partner in Ingeniero Budge. The crime occurred in a hotel

The world of Argentine football was shocked after the arrest of Enzo Daniel Chamorro, a former player of the Camioneros club, accused of the femicide of Malena Soto, 25 years old. The incident occurred in a hotel in Ingeniero Budge, Lomas de Zamora, and the evidence collected directly incriminates the 26-year-old footballer.

Chamorro's football career

Chamorro began his career in 2019 as a left-wing midfielder for the Camioneros club, where he remained until mid-2024, the year he was released.

He was a prominent figure in several matches for the team, which competes in the First Division of the C Tournament of Argentine soccer. However, he suffered an injury in August 2020 that kept him off the pitch for several months due to a ruptured Achilles tendon.

The player returned to play in 2024 and one of his last appearances was on May 12, in a draw against Club Náutico Hacoaj for the Amateur Promotional Tournament.

How the crime occurred at the hotel accommodation

Chamorro's relationship with Malena Soto ended in the most tragic way. According to the security cameras of the Satélite hotel accommodation, located on Cosquín street at 1800, the couple arrived at the place on Tuesday afternoon. After checking in, they were assigned room 17, from which only Chamorro came out alive.

The videos show the footballer leaving the room around 5:30 p.m. He claimed to the reception that he needed to get something from his car, but his request was denied. Desperate, he escaped by jumping over a side gate. Minutes later, employees discovered Malena Soto's body in the bathroom, lying on the toilet, with a fatal wound to the neck.

Capture of the accused

The police, immediately alerted, quickly identified the victim through his SUBE card found at the scene. They also tracked the suspect with the help of security cameras, locating him in the center of Lomas de Zamora. Enzo Chamorro was arrested by personnel from the DDI of Lomas de Zamora at the intersection of Pereyra Lucena and Estrada streets.

Chamorro is currently charged with "homicide aggravated by the relationship" and remains at the disposal of the UFI 17 of the Lomas de Zamora district. Prosecutor Jorge Grieco conducted the investigation, where the accused refused to testify.
