Quadruple Homicide in Tucumã: An Individual Kills a Family and an Elderly Man

A wave of violence rocked Tucumã, in southern Pará: a man killed four people and injured another in a series of stabbings

The city of Tucumã, in southern Pará, experienced hours of panic after a series of stabbings that occurred between the early hours of Friday (12) and early hours of Saturday (13), which left four people dead and one injured.

The first incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. Friday, when a man identified as Rafael Araújo de Magalhães, 30, entered a home through a window with the intention of robbing the family.

Once inside, he stabbed the family living there, killing Antunilde Araújo Barbosa and Zébio Antônio Andrade, as well as the brother of one of the victims. The couple's son was also injured and remains under medical care.

Minutes later, the same attacker was captured on security cameras near the city's bus station. There, he approached an elderly man who was sitting and attacked him with multiple stab wounds. After committing the crime, the suspect returned to the scene and searched the victim's pockets for belongings. The man, whose identity has not been confirmed, died at the scene.

Video surveillance images allowed the Civil Police to identify the perpetrator. With the support of the Military Police, the teams began the search and located Rafael Araújo de Magalhães hours later in a hotel in Tucumã, where he was hiding.

During the operation, the suspect reacted to the officers, necessitating an armed intervention. Seriously wounded, he was rushed to a hospital, but did not survive.

Following these crimes, security forces reinforced their police presence in the region with an operation known as "Zero Tolerance," deployed in Tucumã and neighboring Ourilândia do Norte. The objective was to close down bars and nightclubs to contain the spread of crime.

The forensic team was called to the various crime scenes to collect evidence and contribute to the investigation. The police emphasized that the rapid identification and location of the assailant was possible thanks to the joint action of the Civil Police, the Military Police, the 36th Battalion command, and three mobilized vehicles.
