Liquor merchant loses his life in armed attack with 27 shots

With a significant criminal history, the man was shot 27 times in the attack


In a tragic development in Saragthal village in Sonipat, Haryana, India, liquor merchant Sunder Malik, 36, was shot dead at a dhaba in Murthal on Sunday morning, March 10. The attack, carried out by two unknown assailants, left Malik shot 27 times, according to local police.

Sunder Malik, a well-known resident of Saragthal, had a criminal record, facing eight cases, which included charges of murder, dacoity and criminal intimidation, authorities confirmed.




The tragic episode occurred when Malik arrived at the dhaba in his Scorpio during Saturday night, opting to rest in his car parked there. Around 8 a.m. on Sunday, the attackers arrived in another vehicle and opened fire on Malik while he was in his car. They then pulled him out of the vehicle and continued shooting him before fleeing the scene.

Following the incident, the police examined the CCTV cameras of the dhaba to get clues about the attackers. Responding to the complaint filed by Malik's cousin, an FIR (First Information Report) has been filed against several people, including two from Saragthal. The police, committed to solving the case, have formed multiple teams and are working hard to nab those responsible.

DCP Gaurav Rajpurohit of Sonipat East district highlighted that they are focused on tracing the vehicle used in the crime to progress the investigation.
