Deadly jealousy: Man stabs bus driver after discovering affair with his wife

On Tuesday night, October 15, Leonardo Sebastián Figueroa, a 43-year-old bus driver, was murdered while driving unit 101 of line 506 in Glew, Almirante Brown district. The attacker, identified as Calixto de Jesús Ojeda, 57 years old, stabbed the victim twice in the abdomen during the trip.

According to the investigation, the motive for the crime would have been revenge for a love affair between Figueroa and the attacker's wife, J.M., 30 years old.

The attack was recorded by security cameras installed inside the bus. The images show Ojeda approaching the driver, dressed in a red jacket, black cap and white face mask.

After a brief exchange, he pulled out a knife and stabbed Figueroa without saying a word, before fleeing the vehicle. The victim, surprised and seriously injured, tried to close the front door while looking at his bloody hands in a state of disbelief.

Thanks to the quick action of passengers and witnesses, Ojeda was arrested a few blocks from the scene by the Buenos Aires Police. A neighbor who witnessed the aggressor's escape chased him and managed to subdue him until the authorities arrived.

During the transfer, Ojeda tried to self-harm by hitting his head against the walls of the patrol car, which forced the authorities to take him to a health center where he was treated.

The accused's wife, whose romantic relationship with Figueroa was confirmed during her statement, provided details that helped clarify the motive for the murder. J.M. confessed that her husband had discovered the affair she had had with the victim months before, which unleashed a crisis in the couple.

Prosecutor Juan Baloira, in charge of the UFI N°3 of Almirante Brown, charged Ojeda with aggravated homicide by treachery, while the investigation continues to determine more details of the case.
