Retired ex-policeman murdered in Laferrere: they seek to identify the attackers

In the district of La Matanza, the murder of Juan Ángel Funes, a 57-year-old retired ex-policeman of the Buenos Aires province, occurred. He was shot down at point-blank range in the town of Laferrere. The tragic event occurred on Sunday, October 13 in the early morning, when Funes was accompanying a relative to his home. The attack was recorded by a security camera, and the video of the moment is circulating on social networks, amplifying the news nationwide.

The murder took place at the intersection of Ricardo Gutiérrez and José Hernández streets, where Funes had parked his Chevrolet Tracker to wait for his sister-in-law to enter her house, after having attended a party together.

While he was waiting, a motorcycle approached him and without saying a word, the passenger on the motorcycle, a young man of approximately 20 years old, got off the vehicle, approached the ex-policeman and shot him directly in the chest.

The attack, which lasted only a few seconds, was captured by a neighbor's security camera. The images show how the attacker acted quickly and precisely, without showing any intention of robbery.

After the shot, the attacker got back on the motorcycle, which was driven by an accomplice, and both quickly fled in the direction of Route 3.

The neighbors tried to help Funes, but unfortunately the shot was fatal, causing his death in a matter of seconds.

The victim, who had said goodbye to his sister-in-law before the attack, was found dead by officers from the First South Police Station in Laferrere when they arrived at the scene. Funes was lying face up on the asphalt.

The case is being investigated by local authorities, who are seeking to clarify the motive for the attack and find those responsible. Images from several security cameras are being analyzed to identify the attackers' escape route.
