Agostina Vega entered a house and never came out: Claudio Barrelier, former stepfather and main suspect

The investigation into the murder of Agostina Vega is racing against time in Córdoba as the courts try to reconstruct the hours leading up to the 14-year-old's death. Investigators believe the girl was lured to a house where she was last seen alive and that the central sequence of events, now under judicial review, unfolded there.

The only person arrested in the case is Claudio Barrelier, 33, who had been in a relationship with the victim's mother. According to the investigators' reconstruction, the man allegedly convinced Agostina to go to his house under the pretext of delivering a gift for her mother.

Security cameras recorded the teenager entering a house in the Cofico neighborhood with the suspect. This recording became one of the most important pieces of evidence in the case, as it represents the last known record of Agostina alive.

From that moment on, the main hypothesis is that the young woman remained inside the house for several hours. What caught the investigators' attention is that no camera recorded her leaving the property.

The prosecution is investigating whether an assault occurred inside the house that resulted in the teenager's death. In addition, experts are trying to determine if other people were present at the scene or if anyone later collaborated with the suspect.

During the raids carried out at the property, specialists collected traces and items that could help reconstruct what happened. Simultaneously, the analysis of security camera footage and cell phone tower data allowed investigators to establish movements that complicated Barrelier's situation.

Investigators discovered that, after Agostina's disappearance, the accused sought to obtain money and a vehicle. He eventually obtained a black Ford Ka, which was captured by several security cameras. He was also recorded entering and leaving his home while carrying various containers and objects, the purpose of which is still part of the investigation.

The case took a decisive turn when the geolocation of the suspect's phone placed him in a large open field in the Ampliación Ferreyra neighborhood. A camera installed at one of the entrances recorded the vehicle he was driving entering and subsequently leaving.

The searches carried out in the area culminated in the discovery of Agostina Vega's remains, a discovery that shocked Córdoba and strengthened the prosecution's main line of investigation.

With the evidence gathered so far, investigators believe the events occurred spontaneously after the teenager entered the house. However, the pending forensic tests will be crucial to establishing precisely what happened inside the house and determining if there were any accomplices or accessories after the fact.

As the case continues to move forward, Gabriel Vega, the teenager's father, publicly stated that he believes the detainee did not act alone and demanded that all individuals who may have had some degree of involvement or knowledge of what happened be investigated.
